Bachelor of Interactive Entertainment (Major in Games Design)

I am very creative by nature, with a background in film and performing arts, and I believe have finally found my home in games design. I am very passionate about game design, and intrigued by its possibilities. I believe games are the art form of the future. I am particularly interested in game art, gameplay and level design.

I love innovating game mechanics in my levels, putting a spin on an existing element to create new and interesting gameplay experiences. I believe limitations can be a wellspring for creativity.

I have a strong eye for detail and aesthetics are very important to me. In a way my designs are never complete!

I strive to make every aspect of my designs as immersive as possible. I love the idea of someone skulking across an alien planet or through a haunted house I’ve designed, their adrenaline and panic rising to exhilarating levels, and thinking ‘I created that moment for them’.

I believe my enthusiasm and design skills, coupled with my strong work ethic, people skills, and ability to make a mean coffee would make me the perfect intern for you!

Bachelor of Creative Media (Major in Multimedia)

My name is Alan Solar, I have been an committed learner of web design and development for a few years now. I am interested in all fields of web development with a passion for the back end of web development.

I started to develop an interest in web development from when I was back in high school. My first entry to development, was at TAFE, where I did one year of software development. Soon after, I moved my education over to a more web based education, with two years of digital media at TAFE, which concluded in a diploma.

I have conditioned to further my education in the web development industry, by studying, and I am currently still in the processes of completing, a bachelor of creative media at Qantm college, Sydney.

The idea of being involved in making a game rather than being involved by playing a game has always been a buried fascination of mine, most likely brought about by years of playing and enjoying said games.

Having spent many years working as a Graphic Designer and a Web Designer, I finally decided to leave those and expand my skills by learning about Game Design, a notion that seemed like the next logical step in the broad world of design.

In my eyes, being able to design and develop a game where I am able to make use of my design talents and inspirations as well as game development skills would be an ideal project. Taking both these areas which I am passionate about and putting them in to one finished game is an achievement I would cherish – only to be improved on by striving to make something even better the next time around.

I am passionate about animation, have experience in edit suites and projection booths (including the Sydney IMAX projection booth), and love a ripping yarn. This experience has given me a glimpse of the inner workings of the churning and ever hungry machine that is a production environment.

I believe the story is the most important part of any production, and its authenticity hinges on the performance that is given by the characters that play their parts, whether they are live actors or animated models.

Similarly, the success or failure of a production hinges on the interconnected stories of the people who work together to bring it to life. I am eager to learn more about how the whole process works, so as to be able to play my part to the best of my ability.

I am currently learning the Python programming language in my spare time, which I have not found to be too much of a challenge (in a previous life, I worked as a web designer and developer). I am also learning C and Objective-C, with the aim to create iPhone and iPad apps.

Finally, I am a qualified barista, and am excellent at memorising coffee orders. I can make your morning better in 30 seconds or less! (Just put me in front of an espresso machine)
